The Mosaic Group consists of the Mosaic Community Developments NPC and Mosaic Equity. Mosaic is a registered non-profit organisation which provides sustainable care to over 450 orphaned and vulnerable children (OVC) and their foster parents. Mosaic has three operational sites in Paarl Valley in the Western Cape, Potchefstroom in the North-West Province and Port Elizabeth in the Eastern Cape. Mosaic has developed a sustainable, replicable care model with a holistic focus on the children and their caregivers. The Mosaic model implements necessary mechanisms to intervene on an educational, emotional, spiritual and physical level for all its beneficiaries without creating dependency on an organisation or external mechanisms. Mosaic Equity is an investment platform that focuses on BEE investments to create sustainable income streams that help fund the activities of the NPC.

As Founder and CEO of the Mosaic Group, Meyer is dedicated to transforming the orphan care landscape. With a Master’s degree focused on orphan care models, he has spearheaded data-driven initiatives that have impacted support for vulnerable children across the continent. More recently, through his work with Wellbi, a data management platform used in 11 countries, Meyer and his team are reaching more than 120 organisations, serving more than 75,000 individuals. Meyer’s unique insight into both the NGO and business sectors has positioned Mosaic Equity, its investment business, as a sought-after B-BBEE partner, championing collaborations that help businesses and communities thrive. Beyond the office, Meyer is a devoted husband and proud dad of five children, three of whom are adopted. Guided by his faith and his calling to care for orphans, he lives out his mission daily and inspires others to join him in making a difference.

CARL KIRSTEIN

Having qualified as a Chartered Accountant (SA) in 1991, Carl spent nine years with Ernst & Young, where he was made a partner in 1997. In 2000, he swapped sides and joined the financial services industry in various roles, finally retiring as CEO of African Unity Insurance at 47. After two years of detoxing, Carl joined Mosaic and established the Port Elizabeth site. His current role is CFO of the Mosaic Group, including Mosaic Equity, where he focuses on building a portfolio of investments to create sustainable funding for the Mosaic Group.
