LULA is a platform that connects company commuters to private shuttles for convenient, safe and sustainable rides to work (and beyond) in African cities. They partner with 3rd party shuttle operators and drivers who get matched to daily bookings. LULA is currently active in 5 cities in SA and serves businesses like LUNO, YOCO, The Foschini Group and Allan Gray. LULA wants to enable sustainable mobility across Africa; one shared ride at a time. This $20bn problem continues to grow as the population rises rapidly in our cities daily.

Velani Mboweni is the Co-Founder and CEO of LULA, an award-winning mobility startup that enables sustainable and productive commuting in Africa. He started as an entrepreneur in 2008, having founded two ventures before LULA. He was a Harambeans Entrepreneur Alliance (USA) fellow and an AlibabaeFounders Fellow (China). Velani serves on the CSIR’s Advisory Board on Smart Mobility and is a Non-Executive Director on the City of Johannesburg’s Metropolitan Trading Company. Velani enjoys cooking, reading, playing, playing the Piano and has a deep love for faith, science and aviation.
