Established in 2012, Fix Forward aims to help build an equal and just society by creating opportunities for tradespeople from low-income communities to develop and thrive. They run a 12-month entrepreneur development programme for the tradespeople, consisting of e-learning, workshops, coaching and mentoring.

After graduating from Stellenbosch University in 2004 with a BSc degree in Conservation Ecology, Joshua briefly ran a small franchise business in Pretoria. In 2006 he began working in the non-profit sector, partnering with rural communities in East and Southern Africa to implement health, education and entrepreneurship programmes. In 2009 and 2010 he worked for the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) before becoming an activist for traditional fishing communities for three years. He started Fix Forward as a side project in 2008. In 2014 he became full-time CEO of Fix Forward and has never looked back.
