Ziah prides itself on locally produced products and high-quality fashion, following core beliefs of accelerating African economic growth. She started the business as a full-time mom who was unemployed at the time and looked forward to seeing the development of the venture.

Ezrah is a Hebrew word meaning “helper,” and through training, capacity building, leadership development, and collaboration, Ezrah aim to promote ethical service delivery and quality education where children matter. In 2018, Ezrah embarked on a digital strategy to launch Ebooks and online courses in line with Ezrah’s motto: “Grow Today. Lead Tomorrow.” Mariette is looking forward to the next chapter to learn more about redemptive entrepreneurship, hoping to co-write stories of change where God will be glorified.

Sandra Bilonda Zaca

Sandra is a refugee, survivor, and champion for displaced and vulnerable women. She works as a mindset strategist and a motivational speaker and, in 2021, was a top ten finalist in Mrs. South Africa.

Born in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Sandra fled the civil war that had ravaged her home country as a child. She spent two years in a refugee camp in Malawi and has survived sexual, emotional, and physical abuse. Sandra knows the hardships of living on the street, attending school without meals, and enduring xenophobia. Against the odds, she arrived in South Africa as a teenager, taught herself English, and graduated with a degree in Psychology and Political Science. She now lives in Pretoria with her husband and three children.

Through all her adversities, she has learned to develop a resilient mindset. Her life experiences have birthed a passion for empowering women – which led her to found Brave Spaces. This organization supports other women, particularly those impacted by gender-based violence, to develop resilient mindsets.

Sebastiaan Barnard


Sebastiaan is a conscientious person who has spent most of his professional career in the aviation industry. Two years ago, he started a Robot Process Automation company with two friends called Otomatika, where he fills the role of an Operations Executive. Sebastiaan and his team believe that life is too short of busying oneself with “copy&paste” mundane work that repeats daily. Together they help businesses to make better use of their employees’ time and leave the tedious and repetitive work to a software robot.

Simon is the owner and managing director of 24Seven Plumbing and Electrical Services. He bought the business over from his older brother back in 2020 in the thick of Covid19. He envisioned it becoming one of the most reliable and honest yet cost-effective plumbing companies within The Helderberg basin and beyond.

From starting as an apprentice plumber and working his way up to the owner, Simon has a drive and passion for development and change. His goal is to make a difference in the conduction of business by basing work on quality, honesty, and integrity. His dream is to not only grow the business but give back, develop and empower the next generation.

Simphiwe Makapela


Simphiwe is the co-founder of Onroute Africa, an Agritech startup that seeks to digitize the informal fresh produce trade in South Africa and, hopefully, Southern Africa. When people see a street vendor, Onroute folks insist that they know an institution that holds the potential to drive tremendous change in ensuring food security at the bottom of the pyramid. Society cannot successfully talk about food security until the marginalized are food secure. Thankfully, through technology, Onroute is gearing up to streamline trade by developing financial and e-commerce technologies from primary agriculture to the consumer level in the hope of shared prosperity and market access.

Surika is passionate about supporting social entrepreneurs on their journey to sustainable social impact. She joined the Social Enterprise Academy (SEA) in 2017 and has been the SEA SA Hub Manager since 2020. Social Enterprise Academy is a global learning and development social enterprise that supports people working towards creating social change. Surika started her career as a journalist and gained over 12 years of experience in project and stakeholder management in the non- and for-profit sectors. Before joining the Academy, she was a Business Associate at the start-up accelerator TechStars and a Corporate Matchmaking Manager at the SA Innovation Summit. Her projects include starting an education center in the inner city of Pretoria and rolling out ECD reading programs at disadvantaged schools.

Zibusiso Ted Mhlanga

Zibusiso Ted Mhlanga was born and raised in Zimbabwe, where he completed his higher education studies at Falcon College before moving to South Africa to pursue his tertiary education, specializing in Civil Engineering. Upon arrival in South Africa, this zealous young man faced many challenges – finances being one aspect – and most of them outside the classroom. This forced him to grow and enter unprecedented waters, first in the name of survival but later in the name of purpose. This led to the birth of multiple ventures, which enabled him to set a vision for his life and his family. He is currently working as a Junior Civil Engineer, hoping to register under ECSA, which will empower him immensely in his entrepreneurial journey.  

Zizikazi Bidla

ToothWorx Dentistry | Secunda, SOUTH AFRICA

Born in Umthatha in 1993, Zizikazi is one of 3 girls raised by Nozameka and Xolani Bidla. After her parents separated in 1998, the financial adjustments in the family led her mother to teach them financial independence. Little did she know that this is where her entrepreneurial fire would be ignited. Selling sweets to friends and community members for pocket money was the start.
After completing Highschool, she enrolled in Law School at Wits University with the desire to go into Human rights and health Law. Still, she later registered to complete a Bachelor’s degree in Dentistry. Her passion for people and the health sciences pushed her to shadow multiple doctors and specialists to learn more about the practicalities of healthcare and how it directly affects patients.
In her community service year at Evander Hospital, Mpumalanga, she soon realized the gross disparities in healthcare and facing the employment realities in South Africa; she decided to open up a practice in Secunda Mpumalanga to provide quality oral health that is affordable. She then opened another practice in the township of Embalenhle and has recently signed with the Netcare group and has a practice under the Netcare group in Roodepoort, Johannesburg.

She is a lecturer at the Wits Oral Health Centre and is currently studying towards an MSc in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Her ultimate goal is to have multiple practices in rural South Africa that provide quality health care services.
